Guiding Principles

We are here

• to provide camaraderie, comfort, and information to each other;
• to provide a unique way to get together with other survivors - an unconventional support group;
• to challenge ourselves physically in an exciting team sport where we are all doing the same thing at the same time;
• because dragon boating allows us to see ourselves as athletes, not patients, and
• because, although we work hard paddling, we find being on the water soothing and peaceful.

First and foremost we are here to provide hope to all those on the breast cancer journey. We are hopeful, fun loving, funky and a little different. We are more than survivors - we are alivers! We believe that there is a place for everyone who wants to be involved - whether in your 30's or your 80's - whether an athlete or a former couch potato looking to create a healthy life style - all breast cancer survivors are welcome at Hope in the Boat!

We are an inclusive organization. We are supportive, encouraging and respectful of one another and always working for the common good.
